Board Plan
Fill the board, split, cycle, repeat.
A board plan (also called revolving matrix or cycler) organises members into small boards, typically 2×2 (7 positions: 1 + 2 + 4) or 3×3 (15 positions). New members enter at the bottom row. When the board is full, the member at the top 'cycles out': they receive a board bonus and either re-enter a new board or move up to a higher-tier board. The remaining board splits into two new boards, each led by one of the second-row members.
The result is a highly gamified structure that keeps everyone close to a payout. Board plans are common in community launches, event-based businesses, gifting programs and product bundles, and are frequently layered with multiple board tiers (Bronze → Silver → Gold) with increasing entry cost and payout.
DIRSL automates splits, re-entries, follow-your-sponsor placement and multi-tier progression, and shows each member a live view of their current board.
Mechanics, tile by tile.
Enter a board
A new member buys the entry package and is placed in the first open bottom position of their sponsor's board.
Board fills
A 2×2 board needs 4 bottom positions filled (7 total).
Top cycles out
The top member receives the board bonus and is removed.
Board splits
The two second-row members each become the top of a new board, taking their two below with them.
Re-entry or promotion
The cycled member re-enters at the bottom of a new board (same tier) or is promoted to the next tier board.
A worked example.
Three-tier board progression
- Entry $100 → Bronze 2×2 board, cycle bonus $200, auto-promote to Silver
- Silver board cycle bonus $600, auto-promote to Gold
- Gold board cycle bonus $2,000, re-entry to Gold
- Referral bonus $10 per direct enrolment (5 enrolled)
Time to cycle depends entirely on how fast boards fill; DIRSL shows projected fill time per board.

Strengths and watch-outs.
Strengths
- Extremely engaging; members always see progress
- Small boards fill fast, so payouts start early
- Works for events, retreats and bundles
- Multi-tier ladders create big headline payouts
Watch-outs
- Income depends on continuous new entries; stalls when growth slows
- High regulatory risk if there is no real product
- Complex to explain the split mechanics
- Can feel like a lottery to late entrants

Questions about this plan.
It depends on enrolment rate. A 2×2 board needs 4 new bottom positions; the dashboard projects fill time from recent growth.
Many companies require 1–2 personal enrolments per cycle to prevent passive earning. DIRSL enforces this if configured.
Boards stop filling and no one cycles. This is the core risk of the plan and should be disclosed.
Only when entry buys a real product or service and cycle bonuses are funded by sales margin. Cash-only boards are pyramid schemes.
Yes, across tiers, and optionally multiple positions per tier.
When a board splits, members who were sponsored by the same person are kept together where possible.
